Jehovah's Witness warning: "Watch out for the movie Avatar".
by Cindi_67 inthis is an email i received from my brother in law:.
after discussing with our family and several friends about the popular movie avatar, and the prevalence of "avatars" on the internet, we thought that other friends might be interested in what we found in our family worship research, tell us what you think:.
merriam-websterdictionary - avatar: the incarnation of a hindu deity (as vishnu).

How long before you stopped believing armageddon was on your doorstep?
by bubba flavel ini was born into "the truth" back in 1964. i made the big mistake of getting baptised when i was about 14 or so, purely to please my father as i saw how proud he was when my brothers were baptised....didn't work.. we moved to a new congregation when i was about 8, he introduced all my brothers to the congregation by name, a short bio of thier endearing qualities and how proud he was of them, when he introduced me it was "and this is our black sheep of the family, steve".. i remember living in fear at the fast approaching 1975....actually, living in terror is probably a more apt desciption.
all of you will full well know how it was instilled into us at every meeting and assembly how we are living in the last days.. as a 15 year old, a brother dobbed me in for kissing a worldly girl at school.
went through the marked process, judicial committy, disfellowshipped and the shunning which continues to this day by what's left of my family.

Even if they are right about a world "change" I can't believe THEY are the chosen ones.... I just try to be a good person and I'm learning to LOVE others...

wow I'm glad I read this... I've been shunned!!! a few will do small talk but most treat me like I am dead... The whole "sad" look when they run into me... Yet I am happy so not sure why they act so sad.... Some will turn around when they see me or not give me eye contact!!! oh I feel the love!!! I think this has been what opened my eyes!!! being shunned and no one seems to care why I didn't go back!!! Being shunned and not df'ed... It hurts!!!

Did you suffer from panic attacks in the borg?
by highdose ini can certainly say that i did and that i knew alot of others that did too.
i can also say that i don't any more, i left my panic attacks in the km!.
what about you?.

I did and now only do when something about the JW's comes up... I was constantly doing things I didn't want or feel good doing, and it was ok that it was difficult because serving the borg is hard because the devil makes it hard....

Your worst field service experience.
by littlebird inmy worst field service experience was this.. i didn't have a car at the time and so a pioneer sister was picking me up of service every couple of days.
she was my partner and i got a door where the woman was clearly not interested.
as i am stepping away the pioneer sister starts in with all the objection stoppers.

How many of you were baptised at a young age?
by lepermessiah inone thing this site has made me reflect on the baptism practice in jw land.. many of us were raised in the religion, thus you were given the pressure early on to shoot for baptism as a goal.. i remember feeling bad because i waited until the ripe old age of 14 to take the plunge.. looking back, i realize that when i was 14, i didnt even know what my favorite color was, let alone have enough knowledge to make a life altering decision.
yet, growing up in that climate, i would say anyone who waited past their early teens to get baptised was viewed with great suspicion and was likely to be viewed as "bad association".
kids who took the dip at 8-9 years of age were viewed as "wise beyond their years" and the like.. how old were some of you when you were baptised, and what are your feelings on the matter?.
